Company celebrates passion, performance and community service


NEW ORLEANS –April 24, 2015 – HRI Lodging recently announced the winners of its 2014 Best-in-Class Management Accolades.  These awards recognize superior performance by HRI Lodging managers’ with nominations by peers and a winner selected by members of HRI Lodging executive team.

“Given the high caliber of excellence attained by all our nominees, selecting the winners was a formidable task. We love the passion for quality, the celebration of merit and endeavor to continue to build upon the friendly competition for these accolades over the coming years,” said Gary Gutierrez, president of HRI Lodging, LLC.

The following people and properties were recognized as leaders in their respective categories for 2014:

“GENERAL MANAGER OF THE YEAR” – criteria includes active development of staff, stellar community service/community involvement as a hotel and overall professionalism and leadership skills.

The winner of the prestigious General Manager of the Year Accolade is John Cario, area vice president and general manager, Hilton Garden Inn, Richmond Downtown, in Richmond, VA. John has been a member of the team for five years and is one of the most respected leaders in the organization.  A true hospitality professional, John personifies servant leadership and tirelessly works to improve his teams and the organization.

“SALES & REVENUE TEAM OF THE YEAR” – criteria includes exceeding revenue goals, acting as a champion of operations, demonstrating exemplary teamwork as well as ongoing community service as a team.

The winner of the Sales & Revenue Team of the Year Accolade is Hilton Shreveport in Shreveport, LA. Team members include Marianne Nelson, area director of sales and marketing; Lauren Rabb, sales manager; Tracy Young, sales manager; Jennifer Taylor, catering sales manager; Cate Jeane, associate director of sales; Pam Thompson, group rooms coordinator; Tengee Nelson, sales assistant; Beth Ann McColman, revenue manager; Don Cook, general manager. This high-performing team is led by Marianne Nelson, a talented sales leader that was recently promoted to include area sales and marketing responsibilities. The Hilton Shreveport consistently out-performs their market and deserves to be recognized for their commitment to community and guest service.

“SALES MANAGER OF THE YEAR” – criteria includes exceeding annual revenue goals, demonstrating leadership skills, active participation in industry associations and serving as an overall champion of guest services.

The winner of the Sales Manager of the Year Accolade is Adam Holcomb, senior sales manager, Hotel Abri, in San Francisco. Adam has worked for the organization for three years. His commitment to success is something to be admired and his contributions to HRIL/MWTH’s customers and hotel guests inspire his fellow teammates and help to create a best-in-class sales culture.

Additionally, HRI Lodging felt it was fitting to create an additional award to honor a manager that has gone above-and-beyond under exceptionally challenging circumstances. The inaugural “Purple Heart award” was presented to Paul Gibson, general manager of the Crowne Plaza San Marcos, in Chandler, AZ for his leadership through a multi-million dollar renovation. Paul has been part of the organization for just over a year and is well respected for his tenacious spirit and ability to inspire a team to do excellent work under the most challenging circumstances.
