BERKLEEFEST: TOPNOTCH RESORT AND BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC PARTNER TO HOST FREE SUMMER MUSIC AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL
“Berkleefest” at Topnotch Resort brings talent from contemporary music school to iconic Stowe resort for an unforgettable experience
STOWE, VT (June 2014) – This summer, Topnotch Resort, a MetWest Terra Hospitality property, will host the ultimate cultural festival to discover new music. In partnership with the Berklee College of Music in Boston, on July 26 and August 30 from 2 to 6 p.m., the iconic Vermont getaway will be home to “Berkleefest,” a free concert event showcasing up-and-coming talent from the world-renowned academic institution. The intimate summer experience will take place on the resort’s Mansfield Overlook Lawn, and will also feature local artists’ booths, a beer garden and a menu of casual summer fare, to complement the musical performances. Additionally, Berkleefest will serve as an avenue to award scholarships to Vermont students to attend Berklee’s acclaimed summer program, as well as offer student performers the chance to win $1,000 donated to their charity of choice.
“Topnotch and Berklee are pioneering a revolutionary partnership structure between academic institutions and private businesses,” said Jordan Hollander, Business Development Officer, MetWest Ventures. “With funding cut for arts programs in Vermont public schools, we wanted to create a way to encourage our local students. Berkleefest will not only entertain festival-goers, but will help award scholarships to Vermont residents to attend the summer program at Berklee, creating a two-way flow of arts between Vermont and Boston.”
In addition to funding two annual scholarships, the resort has also arranged for Berklee alumni to visit local schools to promote music education and encourage students to pursue their passion for the arts. The student talent performing at Berkleefest will be eligible to win a $1,000 prize for their selected charity, by having fans vote on social media for the most compelling story.
The Berkleefest line-up is as follows:
- Saturday, July 26, 2-6 p.m.
The Frotations / Nikolas Metaxas / Arielle Vakni / Damn Tall Buildings
- Saturday, August 30, 2-6 p.m.
Great Caesar / Bigfoot Wallace / Will Gittens / Grey Season
